Conversion?

It's not about converting someone to Christianity but about sharing the love of Christ with them. Conversion is just another one of man's formulas to feed his pride and control others by the mindset that now we have a new convert, we can tell them what to do, how to live, etc. What I'm referring to here is how in churches, it's stressed to win souls for Christ. We have an alter call and think that we have done something great. How can relationship flow out of seeing someone as a project, someone who needs to be "fixed?" Doesn't that somehow elevate us as superior to them? Are we "better" than they are because we have the title of "Christian?" What did we do to become a Christian, other than receive the beautiful gift of God's grace? We are all on the same playing field.

Just sharing some thoughts.....

Absolutely. It's such a relief not to have to have an agenda when you be-friend someone. I'm all for their salvation, but nothing I do is going to make them do what I want them to do. It's God's job. He just lets me have a part in His work. It isn't about us.

When we make it about us, we boast in ourselves. Some people will say "Oh, praise the Lord, He's doing it all". But it's false humility. They say one thing but think another.

Daelon, thanks for the feedback on this. I agree with you. It is a relief, not having ulterior motives for a friendship with someone. Very well said. I'm glad you stopped by. :o)

Stephanie, thank you for your post as well. It's really nice hearing from you and I appreciate the encouragement.

The desire to control others is from our flesh. It is the 'perfectionist spirit' in us wants people to behave as we expect. But God says the only thing matters is 'faith expressing itself through love'. (Gal 5:6)
That is the only thing that counts and we keep forgetting it.

Great word!

Sheryl, thanks for dropping by my new blog. I'm still learning the ins and outs of the blog world. I just love the name of your blog.

Your post brings me to share a personal encounter a few years back. My brother and I have been praying for our mom and shared the gift of God's Grace with her for 30 years. She was such a faithful buddist follower that we really thought there is no hope. Guess what? God proved us wrong. About 7 years ago, our mom was diagnosed with stomach cancer that she apparently had for over a year without telling anyone. To make story short, our mom was overwhelmed with visitors from our church...they were praying with her for days before her scheduled surgery. At 70s, her chance of recovery was slim. Miracle happened. She accepted Christ as her personal savior a week before her surgery. We prayed with her before she went in. She came out in the least amount of time expecte...no ICU...no chemo...no radiation treatment. She lost 2/3 of her stomach cavity. Seven years later, she is active in her church worshipping our Heavenly Father! What have I learned through this--everything happens in His Timing, not ours! Ever since then, I humbly lift up the people I care for, love, just met, and strangers to HIM according to His Will and His Plan for these people.
